SLATE

Slate is a fine-grained metamorphic rock that can be split into thin layers and mostly composed of chlorite, micas and silica. Natural slate is the most suitable material to isolate and protect your property, being respectful towards the environment.

Form the quarry EL PICÓN two types of slate are extracted: bluish-black slate and dark grey slate.

Characteristics:
      -  Minimum porosity.
      -  Low water absorption .
      -  Resistant to compression and to bending.
      -  Strong and easy to handle .
      -  Only one source of origin .
      -  Rustic appearance texture .
      -  Highly resistant to atmospheric conditions and to ageing .
      -  Very long lasting .
      -  Does not contain oxide or pyrite.

  TECHNICAL DATA

  The FRANVISA natural slate
  has been tested in accordance
  to the European UNE-EN 12326-2,
  British BS680 part2:1971 and
  American ASTM, obtaining the
  best results.

  UNE-EN 12326-2:
      Water absorption.
      Resistant to bending .
      Calcium Carbonate content .
      Exposure to Sulfur Dioxide.
      Resistant to heat impact.
      Petrographic classification .

  ASTM:
      ASTM C-121: water
           absorption S1.

      ASTM C-217: resistant to all
           types of weather S1.

      ASTM C-120: rupture
          modules S1.

      Calcium Carbonate
           content S1.

  BS680:
      Acid test :
           Acid Resistant.

      Wet/Dry test:
           it is not affected by
